to all you lurkers and active witnesses!
please stop sending me messages and private posts, in order to resque me from the 'devil'.
questions like: "but you have been an elder and should know better".

do you remember these two gems of spiritual insight?
``at times explanations given by jehovah's visible organization have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view.
but this has not actually been the case.
This is exactly why I keep the WTBTS library at home on a 10-year rolling schedule!
Why keep old stuff if it'll all change in 10 yrs, sometimes in less?!!! (smiles)
Actually, can hardly wait 'til the time when I leave for good and throw away all WTBTS related lit. It's taking so much space in my home!

my wife asked me that question yesterday and i really didn't know how to answer that.
for quite a while i knew this religion was getting more bogus by the minute but i'm not sure what defined "it" for me.
do you remember what got you to know that this was simply not the "truth"?
Everything became much less important once the 'new light' on the 1914 generation was presented. It was all down hill from that point on. Then when I found out about the WTBTS involvement with the UN, that was for sure the last nail in that religion's coffin.
Now I just look at it as one more man-made religious organization on earth. Nothing really extraordinary, and definitely not the 'truth' or God's only organization as they'd like to believe.

i bring this up because i was just thinking about some crap i went through with my jw in-laws awhile back -- when i was marrying their son and we were desperately trying to figure out a way to do a wedding without him getting disfellowshipped.
the things i heard them say (their objections) seemed framed by what the elders would say, how it would look to the congregation, their privileges, etc.
i don't remember ever hearing them say that anything would displease jehovah.
The vast majority of us fears men, mere men. We fear the 'what will they say', 'what will they think'; we fear the shunning by family and friends.

as you all know, i'm still a jw in 'good standing' albeit labeled 'spiritually weak' because i miss many meetings and turn in the lowest service time possible each month.
all part of the slowest 'fade' ever known.. having said that, i'm always looking for ways to minimize interaction with the jw organization.
so, my question is..... do i really have to be enrolled in the ministerial school and give parts, or can i not be enrolled and still be considered a jw in 'good standing'???.
Thanks to all for your insightful answers.
Until I get up the courage to disenroll altogether, I'll just keep making up excuses. One really good one is that I'll start attending school on that particular meeting night.

our winter this year has been very strange.
it was very warm originally, then lots of snow... we had a really nice spell here, and now wham!
we're right in the middle of winter hell in the mountains, lol!
Fall, Winter and Spring time here in Southwest Florida is delightful. However, Summer time is similar to the hell of fire many people believe in. It's awful hot and humid!

I'm running low in excuses and I just never want to give another part in the school ever again!

i was wondering if the witnesses still get together and study the watchtower as a group before the sunday meetings i remember in the old days this was very common, also picnics at the forest preserves evrybody seemed to be upbeat helping each other out with either rides to the meetings or wedding and baby showers .other than the hassel we got at school things weren't that bad.
i haven't been to a meeting for awhile and was wondering if it is all the same.
What I can perceive in my cong is that everybody is busy with their own lives, fending for themselves if you will.
Just a week ago or so, this sister was complaining to my hubby and I that she's about to move some place else because there was no love and no one cared in our KH, that no one gave words of encouragement or visited one another.
Actually, the reason why many JWs seem not to care for the cong I attend is the very reason why I love it: Everybody is into their own affairs and leave me the heck alone!

my g/f today asked me if i wanted to go to ny and tour bethel and wahkill (sp?
) and all the other buildings today.
should i go, or should we just save our money?
If you've never been, and can spare the $$$, then just go for the experience. It can be a nice one indeed. Just go with an open mind, enjoy the pretty sights and fake happy attitudes.
